The Saltire Centre

I was the project champion who provided the learning and services ideas and vision for this award winning innovative new building opened at Glasgow Caledonian University on 30th January 2006.

The Saltire Centre provides students and staff with a 21st Century Library that includes a 600 seat Learning Cafe designed to support conversational learning, provides an innovative approach to the delivery of student services and has a wide range of study environments from the monastic to the highly interactive.

The building has total floor area of 10,500 sq. metres spread across 5 floors and recognises the individuality of students by creating micro-environments in response to their wide range of needs and learning styles. You can find further information on the Saltire Centre in the JISC infoNet case study here.
