In 2011 I worked as an educational consultant for York St John University on a refurbishment project  for the Fountains Library and Learning Centre. Fountains was constructed in 2003 and has high quality space spread across  three floors . The building provides library, IT and study facilities for students and staff.

To be as competitive as possible in the HE marketplace YSJ are working to transform the current good experience that students have with the university into one that is exceptional.  Fountains, it’s staff, facilities and services were seen by the senior team of the university as central to achieving this exceptional student experience.

My role in this project was to bring new ideas on learning space design and development and help improve the way services were delivered ensuring that the final result had real ‘wow’ factor.

This was a fantastic project enthusiastically supported by the staff of the university  who worked hard to get a great result - as you can see from the photos on this page. If you’d like to see more photos of Fountains click here

At the completion of the project JISC infoNet  produced a detailed case study describing the original aims of the project, the vision and the many ideas that we developed for the space and services offered. You can see the case study  here
